The City of Cape Town invites suitably qualified and motivated individuals to apply for the Metro Police and Traffic Learnership. This programme provides learners with the opportunity to obtain the Further Education and Training Certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement and Law Enforcement Skills Programme SP4/2012, preparing them for a possible career in traffic or metro policing.

Responsibilities

• Participate fully in the Metro Police and Traffic Training Programme at the City’s Public Safety Training College
• Attend all theoretical and practical training sessions required to complete the Further Education and Training Certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement
• Learn and apply traffic laws and by-laws as part of on-the-job training
• Assist qualified officers with law enforcement, traffic control, and public safety operations
• Participate in community safety awareness programmes and road safety campaigns

Qualifications

• Have a Grade 12 qualification (proof required)
• Be a permanent resident within the jurisdiction of Cape Town (proof required)
• Be proficient in English and at least one other official language
• Be between 18 and 35 years old
• Be medically and physically fit to perform strenuous training activities
• Have no criminal record or pending cases
